Another star to add to the 16th Striker Cluster of Clan Jade Falcon's Omega Galaxy. Brings the total to 25 JF mechs, so about half a cluster. I don't have a problem.
#battletech#jade falcon#the Turkina is a ugly dumpling and I love it.#next up is more Canopus and mercs#I don't have a problem.

I can't say for sure...
...but I really do suspect that if you're in an Assault-grade and about to get a Death from Above by something lighter, if you have jump-jets of your own (like a Turkina or Highlander), you can absolutely parry it if you time your boost right. Come right up and meet them at peak velocity. Like heading a ball. They're trying to drop down on you, you send them right back up. Hit that 'mech like a breaching killer whale coming after a seagull. Bon voyage, hope the in-flight movies are good.

First time getting the lightbox out in a while.
This one combined a lot of techniques that are new to me. The glow on the crystal was the most difficult. Fortunately my fellow BattleTech fans helped walk me through the process, for which I am very grateful lol.
The bird on the back was hand painted, and yeah it made me sweat. It was so intimidating! I can see why some painters really don't like this scheme.
This may be the best mini I've painted so far. And the Turkina was a joy to paint.

Cougar
Based on the Adder, the Cougar is a powerful Clan Jade Falcon light OmniMech.
After the Refusal War with Clan Wolf, the Falcons' newly vested Khan Marthe Pryde strove to rebuild her shattered touman, reaping the benefits of efforts by her predecessor Elias Crichell to step up the pace of the Falcon breeding program and to bring new and deadly OmniMechs into service. With regards the latter, the successful introduction of the Fire Falcon, Black Lanner, Night Gyr, and Turkina pleased her, but Pryde desired the symbolic goal of a complete Star of new 'Mechs.
Recognizing that she'd stretched her Clan's scientists to the limit to produce those four designs already, Khan Pryde directed her scientists to modify an existing design into an even more deadly machine for the fifth member. The design selected was the Adder, and in using an existing design the Falcon scientists were able to field a virtually new 'Mech in roughly half the time normally required to construct and test a new OmniMech.
First seeing service during the fighting on Coventry in 3058, the Cougar quickly spread to other Clans, most notably Clan Smoke Jaguar's defenders during Operation BULLDOG. The visual similarity to the Adder caught the Inner Sphere forces who faced it on Coventry and Port Arthur off-guard, incorrectly assuming it was the older design and being shocked by the greater firepower the Cougar was capable of unleashing. Remaining popular with the Falcons, the Ironhold facility that produced the Cougar was destroyed by Clan Steel Viper in 3071 during the Wars of Reaving.
Though the two 'Mechs are visually similar and share the same weight, the Cougar is slower and better armed than the Adder, replacing its progenitor's 210-rated XL engine with a lighter 175-rated XL model and mounting just five and a half tons of ferro-fibrous armor on an endo steel frame to boost the available pod space to 19 tons. Though some Clan MechWarriors complained that the loss of speed was damning for a light 'Mech, the overall consensus was the increased firepower made up for this deficiency.
The Jade Falcon scientists continued to closely mimic the Adder in the Cougar's weapon systems, the greater pod space allowing them to enhance them while adhering to original's philosophy of ranged combat. The primary configuration is a good example, mounting a pair of LRM-10s and large pulse lasers for a combination of direct and indirect fire support.

my first in-person game of BattleTech went well, in terms of fun
in terms of my actual playing...eh? I deliberately went in with a sub-par 'Mech, used questionable tactics because they were fun, and I scratched the paint on the "final raid boss" ED-209 Turkina with a store-provided Hatchetman's axe, so whatever, man

My sister and I played our first team game against a father/son duo at our friendly local game store. Went super well, pretty sure we made some friends that day. The father made all of the stellar terrain we played on, it was super inspiring to scratch build my own stuff.
So about the game, we played 600pv per side KING OF THE HILL match. The enemy team was an even split between the two players in points and mech force. Meaning they both played a lance and a star with the same amount of heavy, med, and light mechs. All of their mechs are of more subdued/military drabs aside from the handful of Marik Militia the son played. My sister and I hit 600pv exactly with me playing 3 lances of light mechs with on Spartan as my only heavy, putting me at 273. She however, played 6 big mechs with a turkina, Longbow, and nightstar all at skill 3. She decimated their lighter mechs with indirect fire as she approached as I used my Spartan's TAG and my Trebuchet's NARC. We took it due to speed and sheer numbers in the first half, but lost our footing and were ultimately outlasted as they captured the point limit on the Hill. Absolutely stellar game and great company. R.I.P. the Longbow splashing in the water overheating for 8 damage per hit. You will be missed, even though you never did lol.
